Before I ever started photographing elopements or planning destination adventures, I lived in Flagstaff, Arizona (607 W. Tuscon Ave to be exact), and spent weekends exploring nearby Sedona and beyond. This personal Arizona travel guide to Flagstaff and Sedona is my way of sharing the places that stole my heart — from peaceful hikes and breathtaking vistas to my favorite local eats and national treasures. Whether you’re planning a trip or just dreaming of red rocks and wide skies, I hope this post inspires you the way Arizona inspired me.
Yes, it’s a drive-thru wildlife park. And YES, a wolf walked straight up to my car. It was magical and a little terrifying, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’d go back just to feel that thrill again.
Not every hike has to be an uphill battle. Buffalo Park was my go-to for laid-back strolls with big views and wide-open skies. Easy terrain, peaceful vibes — perfect for morning clears-my-head kind of days.
This place literally took my breath away. Standing on the rim, looking out at the ancient cliff dwellings carved into the rock face, it was one of those moments that made me feel tiny in the best way.
I’d pull over here on my way to Sedona just to admire the way the road snaked through the landscape. From up high, it looked like something straight out of a toy car commercial — but better.
Perched above Sedona’s red rock skyline, this chapel carved into the cliff was quiet, beautiful, and felt sacred even if you’re not religious. It’s one of those places you just feel in your chest. And I really enjoyed how there were some trails you could hit up nearby!
Would I photograph more? Absolutely.
Would I hike even further? Without a doubt
Would I order two sides of bacon at Mike & Ronda’s instead of one? Without hesitation.
But the truth is — I’m grateful for what I did do. For the places I saw, the trails I walked, and the views I’ll never forget. Living in Arizona was a chapter that helped me fall in love with exploring, with light, with space… and maybe even with myself a little.
That’s why I wanted to create this Arizona travel guide to Flagstaff and Sedona — to share my favorite spots, memories, and food finds from a place that shaped me in all the best ways.
